I just saw the new Indiana Jones film and I was so annoyed. Okay, I will state for the record that I had slammed a pint of IPA at the nextdoor Hollister Brew Co. Why was I annoyed? Is it that I haven't forgiven Harrison Ford for dumping his long-time wife to hook up with that anorexic Calista Flockhart? Whatever. No, it was the factual errors. How could the writers have confused Mexico and Peru so much?

Some examples, Indy refers to some ancient Peruvian language ("that hasn't been spoken for 3,000 years") and says that in order to read it he has to first translate it to Mayan. Huh? Then they go to Peru and the music played in the market is MARIACHI. WTF? "Quechua" is referred to as a dialect (ok, that might not be such a grievous error). Indy knows a bit of this "dialect" because he learned it from hanging out with Pancho Villa. Yes, you read that correctly. Pancho Villa's gang spoke Quechua. And part of the architecture was a giant Aztec piedra del sol. Those are just the most glaring that I can remember right now. Of course, you can say, "Oh, but you're an expert." Hello??? They have researchers working on the film to make sure they have the right time period cars and dress. How hard is it to keep Mexico and its indigenous cultures separate from Peru?

Honestly I was so annoyed that I couldn't even enjoy the movie. I had liked the Indiana Jones franchise before tonight but I am incredibly disappointed now.
